Omaha’s Thrilling Comeback: A Second-Half Surge to Overwhelm the Bison

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State men’s basketball squad established a 12-point advantage over Omaha with 12 minutes left in the game; however, the Mavericks surged back for an 85-80 victory on Saturday afternoon at the Scheels Center.
 
NDSU held a 59-47 lead with 12 minutes to go, but Omaha outscored the Bison with a 38-21 run to finish the contest. The Mavericks recorded 9-of-13 from three-point territory (69 percent) in the second half.
 
While NDSU was ahead 66-62, Omaha hit three-pointers on three consecutive possessions to lead 71-66 with five minutes remaining.
 
The Bison registered a shooting percentage of 42 overall for the match and converted 13-of-34 (38 percent) from beyond the arc.
 
Senior Jacksen Moni topped NDSU with 23 points. Masen Miller achieved a season-high of 20 points with five three-pointers. Tajavis Miller notched his third career double-double by scoring 14 points and capturing 10 rebounds.
 
NDSU’s record fell to 11-6 overall and 0-2 within The Summit League. Omaha improved to 8-9 overall and 2-0 in the conference. The Bison had previously won 10 of their last 11 encounters against the Mavericks.
 
Next week, the Bison will take to the road to face off against Oral Roberts on Jan. 9 and Denver on Jan. 11.
