Ricky Gervais Takes Aim at Diddy, the Vatican, and Justin Timberlake in Hilarious 2025 Golden Globes Roast!

Gervais is arguably the most well-known and polarizing host and 2020 marked the last occasion he served as the host for the Globes.

“Sitting in the tub pondering what I would say if I were hosting The Golden Globes on Sunday,” Gervais shared on X. “This year has provided plenty of material.”

He suggested that his opening lines would have included, “Greetings, and welcome to the 82nd Golden Globe awards.”

He then pointed out how numerous entertainers took the chance to visit the Vatican and meet the Pope. “Many are from Hollywood. Clearly, they weren’t satisfied with merely being involved in the 2nd largest pedophile ring in the world…”

In a dig at Justin Timberlake, the American singer-songwriter noted that he was convicted of driving while impaired. “If he had been incarcerated, he’d have heard the phrase ‘Sexy Back’ much more frequently,” he joked.

Additionally, Gervais disclosed how he would have poked fun at disgraced rapper Sean Diddy Combs by stating, “Kevin Hart remarked that attending one of Diddy’s parties was awkward, as he wouldn’t leave him alone. Ultimately, he had to shout ‘I’m a Midget, not a child’.”

Comedian Nikki Glaser to be the first woman to host Globes solo

Comedian Nikki Glaser, who has participated in various broadcast roasts, including last year’s Netflix roast of Tom Brady, is the official host of the 82nd Golden Globe awards on Sunday. Glaser is additionally recognized for her tendency to target celebrities.

She recently commented on being compared to Gervais and highlighted how her hosting style will be distinct.

Glaser, who is the first female to host the Globes alone, asserted that “I’m not Ricky Gervais,” emphasizing that this is her inaugural Golden Globes and not her last. “He was prepared to sever some ties [because] it no longer mattered … Celebrities shouldn’t feel apprehensive as [demonstrating they have a sense of humor about themselves is] an excellent opportunity for them to appear cool.”

Emilia Pérez has taken the forefront this year, with a total of eleven Golden Globe nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Director, and more. In the television category, Shōgun and Only Murders in the Building each secured four nominations, while The Bear garnered five.
