News footage of the Springfield, Ohio residence where a woman was reportedly murdered by Stanley Casimir (WHIO).

An individual from Ohio is said to have called 911 to confess that he fatally shot his girlfriend and then led police on a vehicular pursuit so he could “have some enjoyment” before taking his own life.

Stanley Casimir, whose age has not been disclosed, contacted 911 on the evening of January 1 and purportedly confessed to shooting his girlfriend following an altercation, telling the operator, “I just killed my girlfriend, my ex-girlfriend, I just killed her,” as per police accounts. The Springfield News-Sun reported that numerous others called 911 to report a gunshot outside an apartment complex in Springfield, Ohio. Officers arrived to discover a woman deceased from a gunshot wound on the pavement.

One of the emergency callers was recognized as the sister of the victim, who informed dispatchers that Casimir had threatened to shoot her sibling after they had separated days prior.

As stated in the police report, Casimir mentioned to dispatchers that he was positioned in the parking lot of a Kroger supermarket with a firearm resting on his lap. He is said to have claimed during the call that his girlfriend, with whom he shares 5-month-old twin children, had expelled him from their home the previous night. During the evening of January 1, he allegedly recounted that he shot her multiple times, affirming to dispatchers, “I just killed my girlfriend, my ex-girlfriend, I just killed her.”

Casimir further supposedly informed dispatchers of his intention to take his own life, yet stated, “[w]e just going to have some fun before I kill myself. That’s it.” When asked by the dispatcher to clarify his statement, he replied, “I don’t know. I have no idea. Alright, bye.” This was his final remark to 911 before disconnecting the call. Authorities reached the Kroger before Casimir departed and attempted to detain him, but he reportedly evaded the scene.

Sgt. James Byron from the Springfield Police Department informed WHIO, a local CBS affiliate, that a “brief chase” proceeding south on U.S. 68 occurred before the vehicle operated by Casimir crashed. Officers indicated that he shot himself in the head prior to the collision.

Casimir was transported to a hospital and subsequently moved to a trauma unit for medical care, where he remained as of January 2.
