AI Takes Center Stage at CES: The Ultimate Tech Showcase

Las Vegas: Gadgets, robotics, and vehicles equipped with artificial intelligence will once again compete for focus at the Consumer Electronics Show, as vendors behind the scenes will explore methods to manage tariffs threatened by US President-elect Donald Trump.The yearly Consumer Electronics Show (CES) will officially commence in Las Vegas on Tuesday.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is set to be a key focus of the exhibition, along with self-driving vehicles ranging from tractors and boats to lawnmowers and golf club trolleys.

“Everyone will be discussing AI,” Creative Strategies analyst Carolina Milanesi informed AFP.

“From refrigerators to ovens and beyond, everyone will reference AI whether it is present or not.”

Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang will deliver a “must-see” keynote address on the eve of the CES show floor’s opening, promoting innovations from the leading AI chip manufacturer, according to independent tech industry analyst Rob Enderle.Chip sector competitors Intel, AMD, and Qualcomm are anticipated to counter with their own announcements.CES is also expected to be a monumental auto show, with automobile manufacturers and component suppliers showcasing self-driving and automated safety technologies.

“CES has been an auto exhibition for some time now, and if anything, it is more prominent this year,” stated Techsponential analyst Avi Greengart.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s close ties with Trump are anticipated to ease regulatory obstacles related to autonomous vehicles.

While still quite a way from becoming a daily reality, flying cars will feature in the CES display, according to analyst Enderle.

“You will start to see flying vehicles available for purchase,” Enderle remarked. “Securing permission to operate them is an entirely different issue.”

Robots crafted for performing work tasks or providing companionship – including charming pets – are among the anticipated CES presentations.

Devices aimed at soothing the mind, enhancing physical appearance, or aiding in achieving restful sleep will also be present as technology permeates every facet of life.

“Digital health is set to be enormous,” declared Greengart.

“We are witnessing an increase in technology that is worn or utilized to monitor health indicators.”

AI-enhanced devices will begin to infiltrate homes, from a spice dispenser that “adapts” to a cook’s preferences to robotic vacuum cleaners and ever more “intelligent” major appliances.

The tariffs discussed by Trump could increase prices for imported goods, which will likely concern CES participants targeting the US market, according to experts.

Many products showcased at the event contain imported elements, and if Trump imposes tariffs on Canada, China, and Mexico, it could lead to a rise in prices, analyst Enderle explained.

“There will be numerous anxious vendors at CES,” Enderle stated regarding tariff concerns.

“However, much of the discussion will occur behind closed doors to avoid upsetting the forthcoming administration.”

Private discussions at CES will include strategies to navigate supply chain limitations that may arise from tariffs, as noted by Greengart.

Milanesi is eager to find out whether companies based in China will avoid CES due to Trump’s trade statements or attend the event as it may be years before they return.

“It will be fascinating to engage with smaller companies from outside the US to gauge their perspectives on the influence of four years of Trump and Musk on technology,” Milanesi mentioned.

Chinese firms with substantial US operations, such as smart television competitors TCL and Hisense, will be present at CES. “They are likely to return, probably larger and more prominent than ever,” Greengart commented regarding the TV manufacturers.

“Yet, there is also an increasing divide in the market between China and the rest of the globe, particularly evident in the mobile sector and the automotive industry concerning electric vehicles.”
