HONOLULU – The California women’s tennis squad achieved seven victories at the Rainbow Wahine Spring Invitational on Saturday, featuring singles wins from nationally ranked Golden Bears Lan Mi and Berta Passola Folch.
 
Mi, a senior positioned 63rd, overcame Hawaii’s Makeilah Nepomuceno 6-2, 6-0, while Passola Folch – a junior ranked 81st – triumphed over UCLA’s Kimmi Hance 7-6(5), 6-3. Graduate student Cami Brown defeated the Rainbow Wahine’s Hannah Galindo 6-2, 2-6, 7-5, senior Makenna Thiel conquered Hawaii’s Sheena Masuda 4-6, 7-5, 6-2, and freshman Greta Greco Lucchina prevailed over UH’s Nikola Homolkova 0-6, 6-4, 6-3.
 
The Bears recorded a 2-2 performance in doubles, which featured the combination of Mao Mushika and Katja Wiersholm defeating UCLA’s seventh-ranked Hance and Elise Wagle 6-4, while the pair of Brown and Tiziana-Marie Schomburg triumphed over Hawaii’s Joelle Lanz and Emma Forgac 6-3.
 
The three-day event will conclude on Sunday, with matches scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. PT at the UH Tennis Complex.
