OCVN VOLUNTEERING

If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you’ll be aware that I have been an Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist (OCVN) since 2020. I’ve conducted birding walks and engaged in numerous hours of volunteering and training to uphold my certification annually. This year, my intention is to devote nearly all of my time to volunteering rather than a combination of volunteering and training. This entails leading additional birding walks with the local wetlands group and undertaking other volunteer activities, such as trail/site maintenance. This is in addition to participating in the Great Backyard Bird Count, The Sandhill Crane Count, and the Christmas Bird Count, which I completed last year and aim to repeat this year.

PHOTO SHOWS AND EXHIBITS

This is one domain that I will be scaling back in 2025. Last year I participated in 7 exhibitions, including a dedicated show at Sinclair College’s Triangle Gallery featuring 12 large pieces. Handling 7 exhibitions requires a lot of effort and consumed a considerable amount of my time this year, involving printing, preparation, drop-offs/pick-ups, and openings. Moreover, most of my print sales usually occur online through my site, which means that if I have leftover physical items from a show, I then face the dilemma of deciding what to do with them. My house has become short on storage space. I need to take a pause this year. I will continue to apply for solo shows featuring my “Light at the Edge” series, and if an opportunity arises, I’ll definitely pursue it!

That sums up my primary objectives for 2025. I do intend to pursue some smaller goals like capturing more panoramic photographs, further honing my bird photography skills, and working through my extensive collection of 120 and 35mm film. Additionally, I hope to sell a few more cameras in 2025, and following the website overhaul, I might list some of them on my website as well as eBay.

What objectives and plans do you have for 2025? Feel free to leave your comments below.

As always, thank you for reading, and have a fantastic NEW YEAR!

Jeremy
