Bryant Men’s Swim and Dive Triumphs Over UMass in a Nail-Biting Senior Day Showdown!

SMITHFIELD, RI — The Bryant University men’s swimming and diving team contested UMass Amherst on Saturday at Chace Pool, achieving a notable 172-125 win.

In their tenth competition of the season, the Black and Gold clinched a dual victory on both the men’s and women’s sides to conclude their final home meet of the season.

Highlights and Remarkable Achievements:

• This triumph signifies the first occasion that Bryant Men’s Swim and Dive has defeated UMass in Division I program history.
• Christopher Buonocore achieved a dual victory in both the one and three-meter dives, scoring 295.05 and 275.63. Buonocore has finished first in seven out of ten meets this season.
• In the 200 Yard Medley Relay, Bryant Team A (Lajoie, Austin, Djokovic, and Misto) clinched first place with a time of 1:33:34.
• Leo Luna maintains his impressive performance in long-distance events: 1000 Free and 500 Free, as he took first in both categories with times of 9:33.01 and 4:43.48.
• The Bulldogs also dominated the 1000 free with Raymond Stelmark finishing second and senior Griffen Schimmel taking third (10:05.10, 10:12.55).
• Conner Lofstrom achieved a first-place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:43.96, closely followed by Valentin Honsberger who finished with 1:47.55.
• Nick Toepfer secured first place in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 51.72, followed by Lajoie’s second place at 52.23.
• Freshman Nick Austin continues his successful streak in the 100-yard Breaststroke as he earns another first with a time of 58.63, while Ferguson follows closely with a second-place finish just a second later.
• In the 50 Yard Freestyle, Misto again excels, claiming first and swimming near his personal best with a result of 21.10.
• Nick Toepfer also finished second in the 200-yard Backstroke with a time of 1:54.36.
• Nick Austin clinched victory in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:10.31.
• Raymond Stelmark achieved a strong time of 4:50.30 in the 500 Yard Freestyle, finishing behind Luna’s first.
• The 100 Yard Butterfly was Misto’s second victory of the meet with a time of 51.07, and Tim Andrew placed third with a time of 51.59.
• In the final event, the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, Team A (Lofstrom, Toepfer, Andrews, and Misto) finished first with a time of 1:24.79.
