The Crisafulli Administration has obtained an 80:20 funding distribution for the Bruce Highway, marking a significant accomplishment for Queensland, just two months post-election.

Following a robust campaign by the Crisafulli Administration to ensure a safer Bruce for regional Queensland, the Federal Government declared it would reinstate the funding distribution.

Minister for Transport and Main Roads Brent Mickelberg has expressed his approval of the reintroduction of the long-standing 80:20 funding for the state’s most essential transportation infrastructure.

“In two months, we have achieved what the previous State Government couldn’t accomplish in two years,” remarked Minister Mickelberg.

“Since taking office, we have sought Queensland’s fair share of funding from the Federal Government at every opportunity.

“Queensland deserves superior treatment rather than a second-rate highway, which is why we are dedicated to providing a safer and more dependable Bruce.

“One of my primary goals as Minister for Transport and Main Roads is to implement a long-term upgrade strategy to elevate the Bruce Highway to safety standards.

“Our newly established Bruce Highway Advisory Council convened before Christmas, fulfilling our commitment to Queenslanders made during the election, and includes influential voices from the regions.

“The reversion to an 80:20 funding distribution is a welcomed prerequisite from the Federal Government, facilitating our efforts to deliver a safer Bruce.

“This constitutes a victory for Queensland.”
