GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – Four EMS personnel have been dismissed and additional staff members faced disciplinary actions following an inquiry that revealed “policy breaches” concerning the death of a teenager at a fun park in Greenville.

Confirmation of the dismissals was provided by Greenville County representative Bob Mihalic in an email to 7NEWS on Monday.

“On Sunday, December 29th, it came to the attention of Greenville County EMS regarding possible policy breaches linked to a field incident occurring on December 27th,” Mihalic stated. “GCEMS rapidly initiated an internal review. The review led to the immediate termination of four employees, and three supervisors faced disciplinary measures.
The County is still examining this situation.”

At this moment, specifics about the policy breaches uncovered by the county have not been disclosed.

On December 27, 17-year-old Kamel Seveion Sewell, hailing from Simpsonville and an employee at Frankie’s Fun Park, tragically passed away when the Go-kart he was operating collided with an industrial-sized forklift.

Sewell’s demise was classified as an accident by the Greenville County Coroner’s Office. Family members indicated that he was managing two jobs, including one at Frankies, to afford a new vehicle that he had recently purchased but never had the chance to drive.

“He was merely a child striving to do the right thing,” remarked his mother, Deldras, during an interview last week.
