Intel Launches Cutting-Edge Arrow Lake AI Chips to Revolutionize Gaming Laptops at CES 2025

Intel is enhancing its AI chip selection at CES 2025. Today, the corporation revealed the Core Ultra 200H chips designed for “high-performance thin and light” laptops, as well as the Core Ultra 200HX chips intended for mobile gamers who require robust discrete GPUs. While there are no significant revelations regarding these chips, those interested in the Core Ultra 200V AI chips, but seeking greater power, will find the 200H and 200HX suitable options.

The Core Ultra 200H series culminates with the Core Ultra 9 285H processor, offering 16 cores (six performance, eight efficient, and two low-power) and a peak clock speed of 5.4GHz. This processor also includes 8 Intel Arc GPU cores, sufficient for running smaller games. The Core Ultra 200HX series enhances core count, making them more appropriate for gaming and demanding tasks. The premium Core Ultra 9 285HX features 24 cores (eight performance and 16 efficient) with a maximum frequency of 5.5GHz. Although it only has 4 Intel GPU cores, it is not designed for standalone gaming. Instead, it will be combined with discrete GPUs from NVIDIA or AMD in gaming laptops.

Intel did not provide many additional specifics about these chips, other than indicating that we should anticipate systems featuring them to appear in the first quarter. That is also when desktops equipped with the Core Ultra 200S chips will commence shipping. But, considering it’s CES, AMD likely has its own chip updates in the works. Intel had to present something; otherwise, the discussion would predominantly revolve around the difficulties the company faces following the departure of former CEO Pat Gelsinger.
