If you are uncertain about the necessity of having a projector constantly visible, LG’s newest projector debuting at CES offers an innovative solution.

Home projectors typically fall into the category of devices that remain on shelves awaiting utilization, or those positioned before walls in anticipation of use, with the primary distinction being their placement.

Technically, they aren’t televisions, although laser projectors may be referred to and categorized as TVs (the distinction being that a laser TV incorporates a built-in TV tuner). Yet, since projectors aren’t televisions, they tend to rest on a shelf or in an entertainment unit, biding their time until needed. That’s simply their nature.

In recent years, projectors have increasingly gained portability, whether it’s via Samsung’s Freestyle, Xgimi’s Halo, or even LG’s handle-equipped variant.

However, LG’s latest concept transforms the projector into a piece of furniture serving multifunctional roles. Not precisely one of its CineBeam projectors, the PF600U combines three devices into one, integrating a Full HD projector with a speaker and an LED mood lamp that can operate as either when not utilized as a projector.

The entire apparatus is mounted on a stand resembling a typical fan, allowing the projector to be adjusted for projection purposes or positioned upright as a nine-colour LED lamp. Furthermore, the speakers function as a sound system when the projector isn’t currently operational.

For good measure, LG will also introduce a fresh variant of its CineBeam, namely the CineBeam S, an ultra-short throw projector using laser technology, showcasing a 4K Ultra HD image. Technically, the CineBeam S isn’t classified as a laser TV, as it appears to lack a TV tuner, but it will include the same webOS found in LG’s televisions, providing the ability to create a large display from a short distance, hence utilizing ultra-short throw technology.

As with every gadget introduced at CES 2025, there’s no information regarding pricing for either model in Australia. However, if any updates arise, we will inform you.
