Samsung Display, a display manufacturing branch of Samsung Electronics, announced on Sunday that it will showcase a flexible collection of foldable and organic light-emitting diode (OLED) screens at the forthcoming CES 2025, intending to broaden its reach beyond mobile phones into the IT and automotive industries.

The firm’s premier foldable screens for IT gadgets and state-of-the-art display solutions for automobiles will be highlighted at its exhibition during the annual tech event in the US, which kicks off on Tuesday and runs for four days in Las Vegas, as reported by Yonhap news agency.

Building upon its know-how as the provider of foldable displays for Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy Z Flip and Fold series, Samsung Display is emphasizing its progress in automotive and AI applications.

A major attraction of the exhibition will be the world’s pioneering 18.1-inch foldable monitor, alongside new innovations, including slidable and multi-foldable displays.

The 18.1-inch foldable screen for IT devices provides the equivalent display size of two tablets when unfolded. When folded, it transforms into a 13.1-inch laptop screen with touchscreen capability.

Attendees will also encounter OLED-embedded tablets and laptops, which feature reduced energy consumption and remarkable color accuracy, making them perfect for outdoor settings.

In addition to IT devices, Samsung Display is targeting the automotive industry with a variety of innovative products aimed at improving driver assistance capabilities, overall functionality, and the aesthetic appeal of vehicle interiors.

A significant addition is the demo cockpits equipped with under-panel camera (UPC) technology, integrating the camera beneath the display for an unobtrusive design.

UPC technology, initially designed for foldable displays to achieve a flawless full-screen experience, is being utilized in vehicles for the first time, the report stated.
