A few observations from Vegas thus far — we’re enjoying delightful weather this week. The skies are clear, with temperatures generally fluctuating around the 50 to 60 degree Fahrenheit range. It’s wonderful and entirely squandered on the days spent wandering around inside enormous hotels and casinos, but at least it’s a pleasant and invigorating break whenever we venture outdoors!

I’m personally captivated by Loreal’s CES 2025 revelation. The firm has teamed up with a South Korean technology company to create a device capable of performing relatively fast, painless assessments to determine not only your skin’s health but also how well you may react to ingredients such as retinol.

As an individual who often combines active ingredients and surmises, based on minimal research (and extensive browsing on Reddit), what may benefit my skin, the concept of a genuine test (derived from an actual sample of my skin) is immensely enticing. Perhaps I’m not destined to be a retinol enthusiast; maybe I should embrace being a Bakuchiol champion or a Niacinamide advocate? Although Loreal’s apparatus is not presently designed for at-home usage, I can envision myself visiting a store for a test once it’s accessible in my vicinity. Or perhaps I won’t have to wait for too long…

Taking a brief pause from all the hands-on demonstrations to share some of the Engadget CES 2025 team’s hands. We snapped this before entering Unveiled, where we experienced products like the LG Gram Pro 2-in-1, the cortiSense, and the Bosch bassinet. Now, I believe our hands are much shakier, rendering this photo a one-time opportunity.

Bosch is pushing the envelope at this CES, not only by unveiling various new products across multiple categories but also by monitoring nearly every conceivable metric with its latest AI bassinet. Karissa spotted this competitor to Snoo, which doesn’t sway side to side but rather moves up and down. Unlike Snoo, however, the Revol’s baby monitor, which extends over the crib, is equipped with a plethora of sensors, enabling it to detect the baby’s heart rate and breathing, as well as the temperature, humidity, and air quality of the surroundings. I’m thrilled by the increasing prevalence of saliva-sensing technology at CES. The cortiSense gadget that Cheyenne explored last night essentially serves as an at-home saliva test that measures the cortisol levels in your sample to indicate your stress levels. When paired with a subscription program and an app, you should be able to track your fluctuations over time, ideally corresponding with changes in your lifestyle.

One aspect I found hard to overlook was that the company’s CEO stated in a press release that they aim to concentrate on “empowering organizations” since employee burnout is “a considerable issue with significant human and…

financial expense.” I understand how this might be merely a strategy to attract firms with substantial financial resources, but that seems somewhat apocalyptic.

It has become somewhat of a ritual for me to explore the newest LG Gram laptop each opening night of CES, and 2025 offered more of the similar experience. In fact, so alike that I had the impression that I might have authored the exact same preview previously. Fortunately, it was merely a matching product title and not an obsolete device. While the 2025 LG Gram Pro 2-in-1 closely resembles its earlier version, it does present notable distinctions. It will feature Intel’s Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake chipsets, utilize anti-glare displays with adaptive refresh rates, and include more of LG’s Gram AI collection.
