Whispers of the Future: Is the Xbox Prime Set to Launch in 2026?

A fresh rumor has emerged on the internet suggesting that the next-generation Xbox, referred to as ‘Xbox Prime’, aims for a launch in 2026.

The information originates from the X (formerly known as Twitter) profile TheGhostOfHope, recognized for sharing primarily leaks related to Call of Duty. According to Hope, he has stated that he’s heard the upcoming Xbox console “is indeed expected in 2026 and will be named Xbox Prime.”

He further mentions that it’s uncertain whether the console’s title is just a codename and that the next title from Infinity Ward, likely Modern Warfare 4, will be available on Day 1.

Hope adds that the Xbox next-gen launch is “essentially an open secret within the industry.”

If this rumor holds any truth, it may indicate that we could be hearing more about the next-gen Xbox sooner rather than later, potentially by the year’s end.

As to whether this claim is accurate, Hope has a background of sharing Call of Duty leaks and is known to possess contacts within Activision and the Call of Duty development teams. With the company now under Microsoft’s ownership, it is highly plausible that he has received this information from a developer involved in creating the next-gen version of Call of Duty 2026.

As Hope suggests, it would be beneficial if this rumor encourages others familiar with the console to reach out to different leakers or journalists to verify or dispute the rumors.

As of September 2024, the Xbox Series S|X has recorded sales of 29.64 million units, which is half the amount of the PlayStation 5’s 60 million units sold.
