Currently in its 13th edition, The PhMuseum Photography Grant seeks to bolster visual storytelling via monetary awards, exhibition prospects, and additional benefits.
The PhMuseum Photography Grant is an annual venture created to encourage the creation and dissemination of visual projects through monetary awards, exhibits at global festivals, educational opportunities, and visibility across both printed and digital platforms.
Photographers interested in participating are invited to submit one or several projects focused on a particular theme, storyline or idea. All methodologies are encouraged, ranging from traditional to more avant-garde works. Each submission should consist of 5 to 20 photographs.
The principal award winners will distribute a total of €10,000 in cash, allocated as a €5,000 First Prize, a €2,000 Second Prize, and a €1,000 Third Prize. Moreover, the recipient of the New Generation Prize will be awarded €2,000.
One of the accolades includes a solo exhibition at PhMuseum Lab in Bologna, Italy during ArteFiera 2026, with production expenses, travel, and lodging covered. PhEST‘s team will select a work for a solo exhibition during the 10th edition of the festival scheduled to take place in Monopoli, Italy in September 2025. Additionally, Maria Ptqk, head curator of Getxophoto, will choose a project to be showcased during the 18th installment of the festival set to occur in Getxo, Basque Country, Spain in June 2025. In addition to the exhibition production, the winner will receive an artist fee of €400 and accommodations for 2 nights during the Opening Week.
Up to 40 shortlisted entries will be displayed at Lodz Fotofestiwal (Poland), Kranj Foto Fest (Slovenia) and Verzasca Foto Festival (Switzerland). Furthermore, Krzysztof Candrowicz and Mafalda Ruao will invite an artist to participate in Photo-Match at Lodz Fotofestiwal 2025. The organization will provide travel and accommodation so that the prize winner can attend the unique presentation and portfolio review in Lodz, Poland in June 2025.
All entries will be considered for publication in the first edition of PhMuseum’s annual print magazine, launching in Autumn 2025. Additionally, six participants will be granted a complimentary portfolio review with a mentor of their choice from PhMuseum Education.
The jury comprises Aaron Schuman (Photographer, Writer, and Lecturer), Bruno Ceschel (Founder of Self Publish, Be Happy), Kim Jeong Eun (Publisher and Curator), and Sheida Soleimani (Artist and Educator).
