Join AGLCA on March 28th and 29th in Chattanooga to discover the Great Loop cruising lifestyle!

Registration opens on Friday, January 10th at noon eastern time.

What exactly is the Great Loop? It’s a 6,000-mile boating experience of a lifetime that encircles the eastern U.S. and a small section of Canada, navigating through an interconnected system of waterways such as the intracoastal waterway, historic canals, the Great Lakes, the inland rivers, the Gulf of Mexico, and much more.

This event serves as an introduction to the Great Loop. We will begin by discussing how to locate and purchase the ideal boat for you. Afterward, we’ll present an overview of the Great Loop route and how to navigate it, while also starting to equip you for your own Great Loop journey. The seminar will feature practical tips for planning and preparing for the Great Loop, including sessions that focus on the route and general boating topics through the lens of the Great Loop. You will hear stories from Gold Loopers (members who have completed the Loop) regarding their adventures. Sessions will commence on Friday afternoon at 2:00 PM and conclude around 5:00 PM on Saturday.

Welcome to the Scenic City!

Arrive early or extend your stay to discover the Scenic City. Renowned for its nearby mountains, ridges, and valleys, Chattanooga is the playground for nature lovers and one of the best side trips on the Great Loop. The Appalachian Mountains and the Tennessee River are prominently displayed, and Chattanooga provides numerous opportunities to appreciate their magnificence.

The Riverwalk, which stretches just over 16 miles alongside the southern banks of the Tennessee River, weaves through Chattanooga, allowing you to enjoy not only nature but also the local culture and cuisine. Lookout Mountain offers uninterrupted vistas of seven states from one location. You’ll also find Ruby Falls, the tallest and deepest underground waterfall, as well as Rock City, where you can discover ancient rock formations and a plethora of plant, shrub, and flower species. Enjoy the ascent up the mountain aboard the world’s steepest incline railway.

You will also appreciate the historic Walnut Street Bridge. Constructed in the 1890s, it is recognized as one of the longest pedestrian bridges globally, linking the southern and northern parts of the city with stunning views of Lookout Mountain and the Tennessee River. Additionally, you’ll uncover numerous sculpture parks, gardens, and courtyards throughout Chattanooga. It features over 105 permanent outdoor artworks, more than any other city in the Southeast.

Iconic landmarks like the Chattanooga Choo Choo are abundant throughout Chattanooga. Once a significant industrial and passenger railway station in the South during the late 1800s and early 1900s, it has since been transformed into a renovated complex, providing shopping, dining, and entertainment in a historical context. There are numerous unique neighborhoods to explore, such as the Bluff View Art District. This historical area presents a European ambiance and, of course, breathtaking perspectives of the Tennessee River. You’ll discover everything from upscale shopping venues to vintage antique shops and artisanal vendors in this district, as well as all around the city.

Come prepared with a good appetite, as Chattanooga caters to every taste. You’ll find eateries with fresh, locally sourced menus, BBQ, seafood, and even international fare ranging from Latin American to Italian. Many of these restaurants offer unbeatable views of Chattanooga’s significant features, the Appalachian Mountains and the Tennessee River, enhancing your dining experience.

There’s a lot to uncover in Chattanooga, so discover more to plan your visit.
