MIAMI – FIU first-year swimmer Tawannah McLemore  and diver Brooke Megdall received accolades as the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Freshman Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, as declared by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The Panthers concluded their competition at the FIU Sprint Invite this past Saturday, Jan. 4, achieving a first-place result with 482 points.
 
McLemore, hailing from Pompano Beach, Fla., showcased a remarkable performance with two top finishes. She clinched first place in the 100 IM, finishing in 58.46, and established a meet record in the 50 fly with a time of 25.05, the fourth-fastest in the AAC this season. Furthermore, the freshman accomplished a commendable fourth-place finish in the 100 fly, with a time of 59.30.
 
Megdall, originating from Windsor, Ontario, Canada, achieved her fourth consecutive freshman diver of the week accolade, securing second place in the platform event with a score of 207.30 at the FIU Diving Invitational. The freshman also finished sixth in the 1-meter prelims (227.55).
 
She has attained freshman diver of the week recognition for three successive weeks, including the weeks ending Nov. 5, Nov. 12, and Nov. 26.

UP NEXT

The competition will resume on Saturday, Jan. 25, as the Panthers travel to Fort Myers to compete against Florida Gulf Coast. Events are scheduled to kick off at 11 a.m.
