“Embarking on New Frontiers: Deputy Secretary Verma’s Journey Through Albania, Kosovo, and Serbia”

Richard R. Verma, Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources, is scheduled to visit Albania, Kosovo, and Serbia from January 7-11. While in Tirana, he will talk about Albania’s democratic developments, defense capabilities, and enhancing economic relations with the United States, as well as express gratitude to the Albanian Government for its continuing support to our Afghan allies.

During his time in Kosovo, he will address the normalization of Kosovo’s ties with Serbia through the EU-facilitated Dialogue, the reinforcement of governance and the rule of law, and the promotion of economic growth and energy security for the advantage of all Kosovans. He will also acknowledge the Government of Kosovo for its robust support of Ukraine and its aid to Afghans in need.

In Serbia, the Deputy Secretary will underscore the expanding U.S.-Serbia strategic partnership involving energy and various economic matters. He will extend support for Serbia’s integration into European institutions, the normalization of its relations with Kosovo, the strengthening of the rule of law, and enhanced bilateral collaboration on military and security affairs.

He will further affirm the United States’ dedication to the nations of the Western Balkans as they strive for Euro-Atlantic integration and increased regional cooperation.
