Our preferred gaming displays provide an excellent combination of resolution and refresh rate to enhance your gaming experience. However, Asus’ latest 27-inch 4K OLED monitor is different from anything I have encountered previously.
Announced at CES 2025, the Swift OLED PG27UCDM is a groundbreaking product. Previously, you had to settle for either a high resolution with a lower refresh rate or an ultra-smooth framerate with diminished resolution. Now, with this option available, I’m incredibly pleased that we no longer need to make that choice.
Introducing the Asus Swift OLED PG27UCDM
The name may be perplexing, but beneath this amalgamation of letters and numbers lies arguably the most visually stunning panel I have ever seen.
Screen dimensions | 27 inches |
Resolution | 4K (166 pixels per inch) |
Refresh frequency | 240Hz |
Response latency | 0.03 milliseconds |
Connectivity | HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.1a (80Gbps Bandwidth), USB-C with 90W power delivery |
Additional features | Dolby Vision, HDR10, Nvidia G-Sync |
To evaluate this, I navigated a segment of Horizon Forbidden West — a visually stunning game packed with vibrant colors and a challenging contrast ratio test. After doing so, I’m uncertain if I can revert to my conventional monitor and television again.
The exceptional picture fidelity reveals remarkable details within the levels and the robotic dinosaurs; the lights radiating from your adversaries shine vividly against the natural backdrop, and the astonishing fluidity of this display is unprecedented for me. Honestly, it evokes the same sensation I experienced transitioning from PS1 to PS2. It’s a significant upgrade that must be witnessed to be believed.
To harness this fully, you must connect via DisplayPort 2.1a to utilize the complete 80Gbps bandwidth. Additional noteworthy features comprise Asus’ innovative ROG OLED Care Pro technology, which includes a proximity sensor that activates a black screen when you step away—significantly mitigating the risk of burn-in.
Moreover, Asus has prioritized usability with USB-C offering 90W of power delivery for easy laptop connectivity, as well as a USB hub for all your peripherals.
Future Prospects
As you’ve likely observed, this isn’t the sole “world’s first 4K OLED gaming monitor.” It appears to be a trend across all gaming hardware manufacturers.
However, setting aside the veracity of that assertion, whether you opt for the Asus Swift OLED or another 4K OLED screen boasting a 240Hz refresh rate, the overall experience is a breathtaking revolution in your gaming.
Now we simply need the forthcoming generation of GPUs to entirely realize the maximum framerate here…Nvidia, it’s your turn!
