“Spotlight on Excellence: NAIA Men’s Basketball Players of the Week – Week 4 Highlights (January 7)”

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Quenton Coleman from Wayland Baptist (Texas) earned the NAIA Men’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week accolade, while Jamal Gibson from Southern University at New Orleans (La.) received the NAIA Men’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week recognition. The pair was recognized for their performances between December 16 and January 5, selected from a variety of conference/Continental Athletic Conference (Independents)/unaffiliated group nominees.

The Players of the Week are declared on Tuesdays on naia.org, Instagram, and X during the regular season.

NAIA Men’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week

Quenton Coleman, Wayland Baptist (Texas) – SR – Guard

• Coleman was exceptional from the floor in two contests, accumulating 65 points in two victories.
• He shot 21-of-32 from the field for a 65.6 shooting percentage and was 12-of-19 from three-point range, achieving an impressive 63.2 percent from beyond the arc.
• Coleman also averaged 2.5 assists in the two wins, along with a total of three steals.

NAIA Men’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week

Jamal Gibson, Southern University at New Orleans (La.) – SO – Forward

• Gibson was dominant in SUNO’s four matches, securing an average of 14.8 defensive rebounds, totaling 18.8 rebounds on average.
• In the 70-58 victory against Stillman (Ala.), he secured 27 total rebounds, contributed four assists, achieved three steals, and recorded two blocks.
• Overall, Gibson compiled 59 rebounds, 13 assists, eight steals, and seven blocks across four games and 143 minutes of playtime.
