A GoFundMe initiative has been set up for Fair Grounds’ assistant track photographer Jan Brubaker following her femur fracture in an unusual incident on Sunday at the New Orleans venue. The event took place when a horse broke through the gate and collided with Brubaker before the fourth race.
She is presently receiving care at University Medical Center in New Orleans and underwent surgery on Monday. At midday, the Hodges account on X shared an update from Brubaker’s daughter, stating that her mother was out of surgery and in the PACU (post-anesthesia care unit), doing ‘great’, and that they were awaiting a hospital bed in a room.
Brubaker has been employed by the Hodges family since 2020. Hodges Photography has been the long-standing licensee at the New Orleans oval.
