GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Officials in Greenville County announced that several EMS personnel have been dismissed for breaching policies following a teen’s unfortunate death at Frankie’s Fun Park.
Bob Mihalic, the Governmental Affairs Coordinator, mentioned on Sunday, Dec. 29, that Greenville County EMS was notified of possible policy infringements by staff concerning the incident that occurred at Frankie’s Fun Park on Dec. 27, which led to the death of 17-year-old Seveion Sewell.
Mihalic informed that the agency initiated an internal inquiry leading to the prompt dismissal of four staff members. Additionally, three supervisors have faced disciplinary action.
While officials could not disclose the specific accusations against the employees, Blake Smith, co-counsel for Seveion’s family, stated that the employees may have circulated images of the teen’s death. Smith provided the following statement:
A memorial service for Sewell is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 11 at 2 p.m. at Rock of Ages Baptist Church. He will be interred at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, announced that an inquiry is currently in progress following the tragic incident at Frankie’s Fun Park.
Sewell leaves behind his parents, two sisters, a brother, and a step-brother. He was a student at Fountain Inn High School.
Ryan James, the attorney representing the Sewell family, issued the following statement:
”The family is experiencing profound grief. Honestly, I would say they are devastated. After meeting with them earlier today, it became evident they seek answers. They are entitled to that much. As the day has progressed, my office has begun the process of gathering information, focusing on the cause and identifying those responsible. We will provide updates as this situation evolves. For now, the family asks for privacy as they mourn their beloved one.”
