WBB Takes on Creighton This Wednesday Evening at 6 PM CT!

MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women’s basketball squad is set to visit Creighton on Wednesday, January 8 at 6 p.m. CT.

The BIG EAST Digital Network on FloCollege will feature the live broadcast with Rob Simms (play-by-play) and Josh Peterson (analyst) providing commentary.

SKYLAR DOMINATES WITH GAME-HIGH 21 IN COMEBACK Victory OVER BUTLER

• Skylar Forbes has topped the team in scoring nine times this season, achieving a game-high 21 points in the 57-54 victory against Butler on Saturday.

• The sophomore forward’s 21 points were all scored in the last three quarters.

• Forbes converted 2-of-2 from the charity stripe with just one second remaining to secure the win, maintaining an 84.3 percent free throw rate this season (43-of-51).

FORBES MAKES THIRD BIG EAST WEEKLY HONOR ROLL SELECTION

• Skylar Forbes was recognized in the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday, marking her third weekly accolade of the season.

• Forbes recorded two 20-point performances last week, including a game-high 21 points against No. 7 UConn on New Year’s Day.

• The native of Markham, Ontario scored a game-high 21 points in the comeback triumph at Butler on Saturday, January 4, which included two free throws with one second to go to clinch the win. All her 21 points were accumulated during the last three quarters.

• Forbes had an impressive shooting week, going 48 percent from the floor (13-of-27) and 85 percent from the line (12-of-14).

VOLKER’S CAREER SCORING EXPLOSION

• Lee Volker has netted double-figure points in 10 out of 14 contests this season, having only three double-digit scoring outings prior to this season.

• The senior guard achieved a personal best with 21 points against Milwaukee on December 15.

• Volker has set personal records this season in points (21), rebounds (10), assists (5), steals (7), field goals made (8), and 3-pointers made (3).

DEFENSIVE STRATEGY DRIVES MU’S SUCCESS

• Marquette ranks first in the BIG EAST and 11th nationally in field goal percentage defense (34.6 percent), successfully limiting opponents to below 45 percent shooting in all 14 games this season.

• MU is positioned 34th nationally by holding opponents to an average of 56.1 points per game.

• The Golden Eagles have restricted foes to under 53 points on five occasions and have kept teams to 10 points or less in 16 quarters this season.
