CHICAGO – Former TCU women’s soccer star Ryan Williams has been chosen for the U.S. Women’s National Team (USWNT) training camp. Williams is among 26 athletes listed on the roster by head coach Emma Hayes, representing her inaugural national team call-up at any tier.

Having played professionally for five seasons since being selected by the North Carolina Courage in 2018, Williams had a standout season in 2024, leading all NWSL defenders with 55 tackles and 54 interceptions. Highly regarded as one of the premier defensive players in the league, Williams has secured seven trophies with the Courage, which include two NWSL Shields, two NWSL Championships, two NWSL Challenge Cups, and the 2018 Women’s International Champions Cup.

“I am immensely proud of Ryan and her journey,” stated head coach Eric Bell. “This reflects her work ethic and the significance it holds for her. She exemplifies discipline and the commitment to put in additional effort.”

It’s an exciting time to be part of our program. Presently, we are witnessing alumni achieving success at both the professional and national team levels, demonstrating that TCU is nurturing the upcoming generation of players.”

Throughout her time at TCU, Williams garnered Big 12 Conference All-Newcomer accolades as a freshman and was named First Team All-Midwest Region. As a senior, she played a crucial role in guiding the Horned Frogs to a conference championship appearance and was recognized on the All-Big 12 First Team. She concluded her TCU tenure with one goal and 15 assists over 80 appearances.
