Ava Moore Shines Bright: Secures Spot on D1Softball’s Elite D100 Freshman List

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois infielder Ava Moore has been selected for D1Softball’s D100 Freshman Watch List, as announced by the publication on Wednesday.

The D100 Freshman Watch List for 2025 features athletes from 50 various programs.

“In terms of resilience, adaptability, and determination to succeed, Ava Moore stands out as one of the finest in her cohort,” remarked head coach Tyra Perry. “Ava embodies the spirit of a player who constantly absorbs knowledge. She is self-driven and enters each training session purposefully. Ava approaches the game of softball with an enthusiasm that fills us with pride that she is part of our squad.”

Moore was a varsity letterwinner for three years at Tecumseh High School. The native of Ohio earned the Allstate Insurance Good Hands award on three occasions throughout her high school career. She was also honored with a spot on the All-Central Buckeye Conference team in 2021-22 and 2024. In her senior year, where she was recognized with First Team All Southwest District accolades, Moore achieved a batting average of .548, hitting 11 home runs and driving in 43 runs. This marked her third season hitting over .500, having done so in her freshman and sophomore years as well.

Additionally, Moore is not only an exceptional infielder but also a three-time Ohio State Taekwondo Champion.

Moore and the Fighting Illini are set to kick off the 2025 season against CSU Bakersfield in Orlando, Fla. on February 7.
