Boomer Sooner Sports: Unleashing the Power of University of Oklahoma Athletics

NORMAN — Oklahoma junior Raegan Beers has been selected to the Wooden Award Top 25 Midseason Watch List, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.

Chosen by a panel of national college basketball authorities, the list includes 25 student-athletes who are considered leading candidates for two of the sport’s most esteemed accolades: the Wooden Award All-American Team and the Wooden Award Most Outstanding Player.

Beers, an All-American transfer who joined the Sooners (13-2, 1-1 SEC) this year, has emerged as an exceptional athlete, averaging 17.1 points and 9.3 rebounds in just 21.5 minutes each game. Her 69.1% field goal shooting places her third nationally, while her player efficiency rating (PER) of 38.9 ranks her 13th in Division I. Beers has achieved six double-doubles over 15 games this season, the second highest by a Sooner in a single season since 2017-18, placing her in the top 30 nationally.

The dynamic post player was honored as the AP National Player of the Week and SEC Player of the Week on Nov. 12, following successive double-doubles in wins against Virginia and Southern. She averaged 23.5 points, 14.0 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks during the opening week of the season, becoming the first Sooner since Courtney Paris to achieve consecutive games with at least 20 points and 14 rebounds.

Beers is in the midst of a groundbreaking season, striving to be only the fifth player since 1999 to average at least 17.0 points per game while shooting 68% from the field.

Oklahoma has yet to yield a Wooden Award winner, although Courtney Paris was a four-time finalist from 2006-09.

The 2025 Wooden Award victor and All-American Team will be celebrated at the Los Angeles Athletic Club on Friday, April 11, 2025.
