Join an immersive photography hike led by a park ranger to unveil the wonder of the desert, connecting with its captivating landscapes and lively ecosystems through your camera. Allow nature to inspire your creativity as we navigate the First Creek Canyon Trail. A professional camera is not required; any type of camera is acceptable, and photographers of all experience levels are welcome to participate. 

This hike is part of a thrilling new series focused on creative forms of expression, highlighting unconventional methods to engage with nature through photography, poetry, journaling, and literature, each hike showcasing its distinct theme.  

The hike will occur at First Creek Canyon, an easy scenic round trip of 3 miles (4.8km), featuring an elevation gain of roughly 480ft (147 m). This hike is appropriate for most hiker levels, but be ready for uneven surfaces. As we explore, we’ll uncover the advantages of creativity in nature and its beneficial effects on mental well-being while revealing how the natural world can spark creativity and provide fresh ideas and perspectives for artistic ventures. 

We eagerly await your presence on this guided hike and to share the moments you capture along the way with fellow hikers in the group, and potentially with future visitors to the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. 

Interpretive programs at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area are offered as a complimentary public service. Advance registration at is necessary to participate in this program. If you intend to visit the Red Rock Canyon Scenic Drive or Visitor Center, please secure a timed entry reservation at www.recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777. 

When visiting Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, it is crucial to dress appropriately for the climatic conditions. It is advisable to apply sunscreen, wear suitable footwear, bring a hat, sunglasses, and ample water.
