Diving Into Victory: SUNY Potsdam’s Swim Team Takes Third at Clarkson!

POTSDAM, N.Y.—The swimming and diving squads from SUNY Potsdam secured third place at Clarkson University on Tuesday night, competing against the Golden Knights and SUNY New Paltz. Graduate student captain Kenzie Cerny (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Shenendehowa) led the Bears with two individual triumphs. The meet concluded with Clarkson in first place and the Hawks in second.

Cerny achieved victories in both the 50 Freestyle and 100 Butterfly, clocking in at 30.15 and 1:11.55, respectively. Additionally, she collaborated with senior Emily Mullin (Gouverneur, N.Y./Gouverneur), freshman Amelia Bohr (Unionville, N.Y./Minisink Valley), and senior Sasha Truax (New Lebanon, N.Y./New Lebanon) to secure third place in the 200 Medley Relay. Bohr claimed second in the 400 Freestyle with a finishing time of 5:35.73. Junior Kathryn Nelson (Riverside, R.I./St. Mary Academy – Bay View) took fourth place in the same event, completing it in 5:41.09. Freshman Brooke Seaver (Syracuse, N.Y./Liverpool) secured fourth in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:32.26. Senior Ryan Orcutt (East Greenbush, N.Y./Columbia) had the best results for the men, finishing third in the 200 Individual Medley (2:26.55) and fourth in the 100 Breaststroke (1:12.27).

The Bears will be back in action on Friday, January 17, as they travel down Route 11 to face St. Lawrence University.
