Mason Earns Spot in Prestigious USWNT Futures Camp!

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women’s soccer senior Emily Mason has been chosen for the United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) 2025 Futures Camp, as announced by the USWNT on Wednesday.
 
The Futures Camp will showcase emerging USWNT talents who meet the age requirements for the U.S. Under-23 USWNT. The training session is scheduled to occur from January 14-21 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif., and will take place simultaneously with the USWNT training camp.
 
The roster comprises 14 professional athletes – 13 from the NWSL and one from the USL Super League – including 12 who participated in collegiate soccer last season. Emma Hayes, the head coach of USWNT, along with her coaching staff and all head coaches from USA’s Youth National Teams, will collaborate to conduct the training sessions at the Futures Camp.
 
Mason represented the Youth National Team in the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup held in Costa Rica.
 
The native of Flemington, N.J., concluded her college career with the Scarlet Knights in 2024, achieving a third selection to the Regional All-America list by earning First Team recognition. Mason was a vital part of an impressive defense in 2024, contributing to eight team shutouts. A reliable force in the defense, Mason played virtually the entire season, missing only two minutes, scoring two goals, and assisting from the back line. Throughout the season, Mason and the defense permitted four or fewer shots on goal in 12 games, including seven where the opposition managed three or fewer shots on target. On September 24, Mason received honors as All-Big Ten First Team, as well as National Player of the Week and Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week.
