Tragic Loss: Celebrated Golf Photographer, Local Hero, Dies in New Year’s Day Collision

Cyclist John Henebry, Jr., aged 76, was hit by an automobile while cycling in Rancho Mirage on New Year’s Day, as confirmed by the coroner’s office.

Friends of Henebry have recognized him on social media as a highly acclaimed local photographer.

His website indicates he was renowned for capturing and highlighting the beauty and nuances of landscapes and golf courses across the globe.

The incident was reported shortly after 10:00 a.m. last Wednesday, close to Highway 111 and Frank Sinatra Drive in Rancho Mirage. Sheriff’s Deputies reported that they attempted to save Henebry’s life, but he unfortunately passed away at the scene.

The motorist involved is fully cooperating with the active investigation.
