CLEVELAND, Ohio | Alabama A&M University senior offensive lineman Carson Vinson garnered another accolade on Wednesday as he was chosen for the Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) 27th Annual Academic All-Star Team.

Vinson was among 54 student-athletes appointed to the academic all-star team and stood out as the sole representative from the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).

“These outstanding young men exemplify excellence not only in their academic endeavors, but also through their commitment on the field,” stated Mark Benson, current FCS ADA President and Director of Athletics at the University of Albany. “Each year, we have the honor of reviewing and selecting exceptional leaders who embody the finest of our division, and this year’s candidates have upheld that tradition. Congratulations to all the nominated student-athletes and to those chosen.”

Vinson, who has accumulated various postseason accolades including being the first HBCU player invited to the 2025 Reese’s Senior Bowl, AFCA FCS All-America Second Team, and Phil Steele 2024 SWAC Offensive Lineman of the Year, participated in all 48 games for the Bulldogs.

The Morrisville, N.C. native has contributed to elevating the Bulldog offense to the top of the SWAC in total offense (444.5 yards per game) and passing offense (260.5 yards per game). Furthermore, the Bulldogs rank third in the conference for rushing offense with 184.0 yards per game. He possesses an 89 percent overall offensive line rating with 61 total knockdowns and permitted just one sack, which occurred against SEC rival Auburn in the season opener.

Each nominee was mandated to achieve a minimum grade point average of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) in undergraduate or graduate studies and have served as a starter or significant player with credible athletic credentials. They must have attained their second year of athletics and academic standing at the nominated institution and have completed at least one full academic year there.
