The January exhibition at Nenagh Library presents a fascinating assortment of underwater photographs captured by divers.
These images showcase a diverse and captivating selection of marine life photographed both locally and internationally. This collection was displayed at the previous year’s Diving Ireland Expo, the national scuba-diving and related watersports annual event, hosted at the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin.

This year’s Diving Ireland Expo is scheduled to take place in Nenagh, organized by the local Lough Derg Sub Aqua Club. The photography showcase currently exhibited at Nenagh Library aims to ignite enthusiasm for the forthcoming event. Everyone is invited to come and admire the photos captured by the Diving Ireland underwater photography collective, which was established 15 years ago to aid Irish underwater photographers in sharing their knowledge and mentoring newcomers to underwater photography. The collective has expanded to encompass many international photographers. Expertise is offered regarding technical gear, camera configurations, and, upon request, constructive feedback on the photographs taken. The traveling showcase highlights the group’s dedication to documenting the underwater realm.
Visit the exhibition in Nenagh without any cost, during library operational hours – Monday, 9.30am – 5.30pm; Tuesday, 9.30am – 8pm; Wednesday, 9.30am – 5.30pm; Thursday, 9.30am – 5.30pm; Friday, 9.30am – 1pm and 2 – 5pm; and Saturday, 10am – 1pm and 2 – 5pm.
NENAGH EXPO
An upcoming photography exhibition will be an integral part of Diving Ireland Expo 2025, scheduled to take place at the Abbey Court Hotel during the weekend of March 29-30. In addition to being the yearly convention for Diving Ireland – the national body governing recreational underwater activities in Ireland – this expo includes a trade exhibition where enthusiasts of scuba-diving, free-diving, snorkeling, and related aquatic activities can find excellent deals on equipment. Attendees can also learn about the latest products available and offerings from diving holiday providers.
A prominent aspect of the weekend event will be a series of discussions on subjects that will captivate a broad audience. Confirmed speakers for the Nenagh expo include Dr. Simon Berrow of the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group, currently receiving media attention due to a humpback whale sighting in the Shannon Estuary. Another representative is Michael Loftus, a key figure in the widely publicized sinking of the MV Shingle off Mayo last year, which led to the establishment of Ireland’s first artificial reef for divers. Additionally, a talk will be presented by renowned Kilkee local, Manuel Di Lucia, who published a book on his life as a pioneering diver, fisherman, lifeguard, restaurant proprietor, and Marine Rescue Centre founder at the age of 83 last year.
The expo will also have a raffle featuring some incredible prizes – tickets are currently available through members of Lough Derg SAC.
