“Fall 2024 Academic Excellence: Celebrating Women’s Swimming & Diving and Men’s Cross Country”

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Vice President for Athletics at Augustana, Josh Morton, has declared the recipients of the 2024 Fall Semester AD’s Academic Achievement Award. For the eighth consecutive semester, the Viking men’s cross country team has claimed the accolade, while the AU women’s swimming and diving squad received the honor for the inaugural time.

This award, first presented during the 2020-21 academic year, recognizes the highest men’s and women’s team GPA for each semester. The women’s swimming and diving team improved their overall GPA to 3.66, whereas the men’s cross country team recorded a 3.65 GPA.

“I feel immense pride for all of our teams for their outstanding performance in every sport,” stated Morton. “It is once again evident that at Augustana, one can strive for excellence in competition while achieving distinction in academics, especially when the recipients of the AD’s Academic Achievement Award are also reigning conference champions.”

Overall, Augustana Athletics saw a 3.37 semester GPA and maintains a combined cumulative GPA of 3.45 across all 22 sports. In total, 85 athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA during the fall semester.
