TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Villanova swimming and diving squads for both men and women encountered defeats against Florida State. The Seminole men’s team is positioned 22nd nationally and managed to surpass the Wildcats with a score of 249-51. Meanwhile, the women’s Seminole team, ranked 25th in the country, triumphed over the Wildcats 232-68.

The meet commenced with the 1000 free event. Sophomore Peri Gaguzis secured second place, clocking in at 10:21.86. On the men’s front, freshman Owen Nye also attained second place with a finish of 9:42.77.

In the 200 free, sophomore Riley Kudlac finished second, recording a time of 1:53.20. Freshman Alana Leen achieved third place, touching in at 58.01 seconds in the 100 back. She also secured second in the 200 back with a time of 2:01.52.

The Wildcats concluded strongly in the 200 fly, with Katie White finishing second at 2:03.27, closely followed by sophomore Anna Farley in third with a time of 2:05.65. Justin Nowicki represented the men’s team by placing third with a time of 1:52.35.

White also managed to capture second in the 500 free, finishing at 5:04.02. Farley concluded with a swift third place time of 2:08.08 in the 200 IM.

In the breaststroke events, freshman Annie Honkamp represented the ‘Cats by claiming third in the 200 breast with her finish of 2:21.50. Junior Winnie Jalet earned third in the 100 breast, touching the wall at 1:05.28.

The Wildcats are set to return to competition on January 17th, when the women’s squad travels to James Madison.
