The Iowa State Cyclones (2-2, 0-0 Big 12) will host the UNI Panthers (0-1, 0-0 MVC) on Saturday, marking their senior day celebration at Beyer Hall in Ames.

THE OPPONENT – UNI

The Cyclones are preparing for an in-state rivalry as they face the Panthers.

Earlier, the two teams competed in the Hawkeye Invite in Iowa City last November, where the Cyclones placed eighth, with UNI close in ninth.

UNI has only partaken in one dual meet thus far, encountering the Hawkeyes and suffering a 173-127 defeat.

LAST TIME OUT – Iowa

The Cyclones faced a formidable opponent in a strong Iowa team, leading to their second defeat of the season.

Anja Peck and Winter Craig delivered exceptional performances for the Cyclones in the swimming competitions. Peck achieved second place in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke, attaining a personal best in the 200 and earning the fourth position on ISU’s all-time freshman record list. Her accomplishments led to her being named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week.

Craig maintained consistency in the butterfly, finishing first in the 200 fly and third in the 100 fly.

Mallory Miller made an impression on the All-Time Top Performer’s list in the 400 IM, establishing a personal best time of 4:21.00, which secured her sixth place on the list and a second overall finish.

On the diving front, freshman Maggie Bendell qualified for the NCAA Zone Qualifiers for the first time this season in the 1-meter event, finishing fourth with a score of 266.05. She narrowly missed out on qualifying in the 3-meter with a third-place finish and a score of 279.15.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR – Breaststroke

The Cyclones have displayed remarkable prowess in breaststroke events. In their match against Iowa, they excelled in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke, securing all top five placements in each race.

ON DECK – TCU

Iowa State is set to journey to Fort Worth, Texas, to compete against the Horned Frogs in their initial Big 12 matchup of the season on January 17th at 5 p.m.
