Evenflo revealed on Wednesday a car seat that purports to assist parents by soothing their crying infants with sounds, melodies, and lights.

The car seat, named the Evenflo SensorySoothe, was presented at the Consumer Electronics Show, also known as CES, in Las Vegas.

Referring to the car seat as “innovative technology,” Evenflo mentioned that the SensorySoothe connects to a mobile application that enables parents to operate the car seat’s handle, which showcases lights for babies to observe, produces sounds, and plays tunes to amuse the infants.

As per the company, the car seat was designed based on thorough research.

“Based on studies related to infant sensory growth, SensorySoothe features lights and sounds suitable for different developmental stages, such as high-contrast lighting effects for neonates and engaging songs for older infants,” the company stated in the press release.

Sharon Ruggieri, Evenflo’s senior director of product management, expressed in the press release that she recognizes how parents often find themselves in high-pressure scenarios.

“All parents have been in that situation – trapped in a vehicle, restaurant, or public venue, hands full with a wailing baby and that feeling of powerlessness that accompanies it,” she noted, adding that the car seat will help diminish some of that tension.

Powered by four AA batteries, the car seat is anticipated to sustain a charge for over 15 hours, Evenflo stated.

The company did not disclose the price of the car seat but confirmed that SensorySoothe will commence shipping in mid-February 2025, according to Evenflo. The car seat will also be available through online vendors like Babylist, Amazon, Target, and Walmart.

How does the Evenflo SensorySoothe function?

Users can activate SensorySoothe via the Evenflo app, voice commands with Siri and Google, as well as through controls on the car seat.

Customers of SensorySoothe will have the ability to customize sounds and lights that their infants prefer. Sounds include white noise, lullabies, and additional lively rhythms, as reported by the company.

Clients will also have the option to synchronize the car seat’s lights with the sounds produced, or utilize an Amber Car Seat Nightlight feature that provides ambient light for babies while traveling at night.

Sarah Haverstick, Senior Manager of Safety Advocacy & Consumer Care at Evenflo, mentioned in the press release that the car seat removes the necessity for toys that could become projectiles during collisions, posing risks to infants in car seats.

Often, parents feel compelled to attach toys to their infants’ car seats to entertain or soothe them. Now, the handle of SensorySoothe manages that, Haverstick remarked.

“Your infant is not only calm and engaged while traveling, but most importantly secure,” Haverstick added.

SensorySoothe will be unveiled alongside other high-end car seats and travel systems.

The car seat is available in six color choices such as yellow, blue, and gray, accommodating premature infants as well as babies weighing between 3 to 30 pounds.
