EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Returning to competition for the first time since mid-November, the University of Evansville swimming and diving squads will travel to Ball State for a contest at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday.
 
The last outing for UE was at the A3 Invite in Carbondale, Illinois, where both teams secured top five placements in the competition. The Purple Aces men finished in fourth place, while the women’s team came in fifth.
 
The multi-day event allowed Evansville to conclude with strong performances. Joseph Capo achieved the best result for the men on the final day, finishing third in the 1650-Freestyle with a time of 16:09.18. Additionally, a third-place result was obtained in the 400-Free Relay, with Michael Pruett, Ben Hasanovic, Logan Tenison, and Daniel Santos Lopez completing the race in 3:03.32. In the A Final of the 200-Backstroke, Patrik Vilbergsson secured fourth place with a time of 1:49.66.
 
Santos Lopez led UE by finishing fourth in the A Final of the 100-Free. He concluded the event in 45.34 seconds, while Michael Pruett secured third place in the B Final with a recording of 45.98. In the 200-Breaststroke, Joao Pereira earned a top five spot in the A Final, finishing fifth with a time of 2:05.01.
 
Sveva Brugnoli stood out as the highlight for the women’s team on the final day, winning the A Final of the 200-Fly with a time of 2:04.47. Evelyn Chin also picked up a top five finish in the B Final, ending fourth with her time of 2:13.54.
 
Mari Mueller placed fourth in the A Final of the 200-Breaststroke, clocking in at 2:21.42. Rafaela Markarewicz finished sixth in the B Final with a time of 2:27.02. Ane Madina displayed a strong performance in the B Final of the 200-Backstroke, finishing fourth in 2:07.84. Hannah Krings obtained a top ten finish in the 1650-Free, taking 10th place with a time of 18:11.37.
 
In the 400-Free Relay, Madina, Brugnoli, Rebecca Lago, and Mia Pesavento clinched a fifth-place finish, completing the race in 3:34.74.
