NSC Spokesperson Sean Savett Sheds Light on Mysterious Health Events

Upon assuming office, the Biden-Harris Administration launched a committed initiative to tackle unusual health occurrences reported by our associates. We gathered departments and agencies throughout the U.S. Government to forge new policies aimed at enhancing access to and elevating medical care for impacted personnel, ensuring reports of incidents could be made openly and without shame, and granting benefits to qualifying employees under laws enacted by Congress, including the HAVANA Act, which President Biden signed into legislation. We also instructed the Intelligence Community to investigate the origins or factors behind these incidents and mandated extensive research from our top laboratories, guided by specialists both within and outside government.

Our dedication to these priorities is steadfast and must persist. The refreshed Intelligence Community Assessment, which results from ongoing analytical endeavors and indicates a shift in key conclusions by certain intelligence sectors, further emphasizes why it is essential for the U.S. Government to maintain critical research, probe credible occurrences, and enhance initiatives to provide prompt care and ongoing clinical follow-ups.

We will be informing the incoming Administration about the comprehensive scope of ongoing efforts that should be sustained, in addition to other areas of emphasis suggested by the Intelligence Community experts panel, which indicated that a portion of unusual health incidents cannot be readily accounted for by recognized environmental or medical factors and that pulsed electromagnetic or acoustic energy remains a plausible explanation in certain situations. Similar to other health challenges encountered by U.S. personnel that took years to diagnose, continuous clinical, research, and investigative efforts are vital to clarify the origins of the symptoms reported by our colleagues, devise effective medical treatments, and avert future incidents. Our courageous colleagues and their families, who have endured genuine and at times serious injuries, merit no less.
