NEW YORK  The Columbia men’s swimming and diving squad is prepared to host its last home competition of the 2024-25 season at Uris Natatorium on Saturday against the Brown Bears. The event is scheduled to commence at noon.

SENIOR DAY

Following the 10-minute intermission after the 100-fly, which will be the 14th event of the day, Columbia and Head Coach Jim Bolster will recognize their seven seniors who will be competing in their final home meet this Saturday. This group includes Caleb Apodaca, Logan Cicman, Josh Cho, Demirkan Demir, Jack Engel, Andrew Fouty, and Tristan Pragnell

“Tomorrow we honor our impressive class of seniors,” Head Coach Jim Bolster stated. “They are recognized not only for their abilities in the pool but also for their achievements in academics. We salute you as impactful athletes and scholars. Thank you for your dedication, and we wish you all the best!”

LAST TIME OUT

The Lions recently returned from their winter training trip in West Palm Beach, with their last competition being the Big Al Invite on December 6th.

In the first individual event of that meet, Adam Wu secured a second place finish in the 500 free, registering a time of 4:19.93. Gian Santos followed closely in sixth, achieving a time of 4:23.76.

Wu highlighted the weekend by winning the 200 free with a time of 1:35.20.

Zion James achieved second place in the 50 free with a time of 19.80, just one tenth of a second shy of first place. Wu was right behind him, taking third with a time of 20.01. James also finished second in the 100 free, clocking in at 43.41.

Joshua Corn added a second place finish as well, with a time of 1:54.92 in the 200 breast.

In diving, Joseph Nicol placed second on both the 1m and 3m boards, while Will Cooley took second in the platform dive.

SCOUTING BROWN

The Bears currently hold a record of 3-2 this season, with 2-2 in Ivy League matchups. Their victories came against Dartmouth and Penn, while they faced losses against Yale and Princeton. In their most recent event, Brown secured first place at the Bruno Invite, hosted at Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center in Providence. Last year, they finished 3-4 overall with a similar mark in the Ivy League, which included a 182-116 victory over Columbia. Ultimately, the Bears ended up finishing fifth at the Ivy League Championships.
