UConn Battles Georgetown: A Clash of Titans This Saturday!

STORRS, Conn. – The No. 7 UConn women’s basketball squad (14-2, 5-0 BIG EAST) heads to Washington, D.C., to compete against Georgetown (8-7, 1-3) at the Entertainment & Sports Arena this Saturday at 4 p.m. The match will be broadcast on SNY and the UConn Sports Network through Learfield (The River 105.9).

Graduate student Azzi Fudd achieved a season-high of 23 points alongside three steals, leading UConn to a victory over Xavier, 81-27, on Wednesday. Freshman Allie Ziebell contributed off the bench with a personal-record of 17 points. The Huskies capitalized on turnovers, scoring 42 points, and netted 36 points in the paint.

Historically, the Huskies hold a 55-6 record against Georgetown. UConn has emerged victorious in the last 38 encounters between the teams. Notably, Fudd’s mother, Katie, played for Georgetown from 1998-01.

Fudd hails from Arlington, Va., and attended St. John’s College High School in Washington, D.C. Additionally, sophomore Qadence Samuels is from Forestville, Md., located around nine miles from the Entertainment & Sports Arena.

UConn and Georgetown previously clashed on Dec. 15 at the XL Center. Redshirt senior Paige Bueckers scored 24 points, propelling UConn to a decisive 79-44 win.

Most recently, Georgetown suffered a defeat against Villanova, falling 77-62 on Wednesday. This season, Kelsey Ransom leads the Hoyas with an average of 20.6 points per game. Darnell Haney is currently in his inaugural season as head coach at Georgetown.
