The Fruitlands Museum in Harvard, MA ranks among the top wedding venues in the Boston region. The Museum and its surroundings lie just about 45 minutes from Boston, yet you & your guests will truly feel immersed in nature. This location is a historic estate offering both indoor and outdoor wedding ceremony choices. I had the incredible privilege of photographing Ramona & Andrew’s wedding in October 2024 at the Fruitlands Museum, and despite the intermittent rain throughout the day, we successfully utilized the Museum’s landscape for beautiful portraits, which included the picturesque foliage-covered backdrop of the Nashua River Valley.

The structures on the Fruitlands estate date back to the early 1900s, with some dating to the mid-1800s, granting the preparation areas plenty of character and allure while still being well-lit and spacious. The on-site event staff were helpful with inquiries, including assistance with the rain contingency, allowing us to capture images in delightful spots around the premises. For instance, Ramona & Andrew had their first look on the porch of the 1800s farmhouse (which I captured while standing in the rain – anything for the perfect shot!), keeping them sheltered before the ceremony.

Ramona & Andrew had envisioned an outdoor wedding ceremony at Fruitlands, but the rain compelled us to implement our backup plan, hosting the ceremony on the patio beneath a stunning white tent. Guests remained dry while still experiencing a portion of the (admittedly foggy) vista over the undulating hills. One of my cherished aspects of Ramona & Andrew’s celebration was Ramona walking down the aisle to the Jurassic Park theme.

After the ceremony, we encountered a short break in the rain, allowing us to capture some portraits and family shots with that breathtaking view behind us. Following a delightful dinner (catered by the in-house team at Fruitlands, which is one of the venue’s numerous perks), Ramona & Andrew cut their cake with an enormous sword (because, of course) and we danced the night away to a blend of oldies and Motown classics led by DJ Mike Stripez.

If you are seeking a wedding venue in the Boston area with easy access to the city yet providing the sensation of being out in nature, the Fruitlands Museum is an excellent option!
