“Amouranth’s Wildcard Gaming Makes a Triumphant Comeback in Dota 2!”

The North American Dota 2 scene may not be entirely finished yet.

Wildcard Gaming, an esports entity co-owned by the well-known streamer Kaitlyn “Amouranth” Siragusa, has returned to the competitive Dota 2 landscape by recruiting the North American roster of Apex Genesis.

Wildcard Gaming’s Dota 2 roster includes the following players:

2. Francis “RCY” Fundemera
3. Victor “Fayde” Zuev
4. Danilo “Bignum-” Shehovstov
5. PAUL “Speeed” BOCCHICCHIO

Amouranth’s organization returns to Dota 2

Wildcard initially entered the Dota 2 realm in 2021, becoming a consistent contender in the now-defunct Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) alongside its North American regional league. Nevertheless, the organization discretely withdrew from the scene in 2023 after Valve Software, the developer of Dota 2, opted to terminate the DPC.

Wildcard is now making its comeback to Dota 2 to assist in revitalizing the long-Suffering North American scene. Unlike its initial venture, this time the organization operates under the co-ownership of popular streamer Amouranth.

Amouranth, recognized as one of the globe’s most prominent content creators, is known for her influence across various platforms. She possesses a remarkable following, with more than 3.8 million followers on X (formerly Twitter) and 6.2 million on Twitch. In June 2024, she became the co-owner of Wildcard, marking her inaugural entry into the esports sector.

Wildcard now fields teams across three games: Counter-Strike 2 (CS2), Rainbow Six: Siege, and most recently, Dota 2. Amouranth has also actively been supporting her players, having participated in events such as the DreamHack Atlanta CS2 tournament.

A beacon of hope for the North American scene

This announcement delivers some positivity to the struggling North American Dota 2 scene. Throughout the previous year, the region has witnessed considerable challenges: Evil Geniuses departed the Dota 2 sphere, Nouns Esports disbanded following The International (TI) 2024, and Cloud9 has remained dormant, showing no intention of returning for the new season.

With no major North American organizations actively engaged, Wildcard’s comeback is a pleasant development. Yet, the team still has a lot to demonstrate, as they have not yet competed in tier-one events and would likely require time to evolve.

Wildcard is currently participating in the DreamLeague Season 25: North America qualifiers and is gearing up to compete for spots in forthcoming events, including PGL Wallachia Season 3 and FISSURE PLAYGROUND #1.
