AMES, Iowa – No. 27 Iowa State (2-1) secured a duo of victories against Iowa (1-1) and Brown (0-2) in their home debut, achieving a season-high score of 195.100.    

“I believe it was incredibly thrilling for us to commence our season at home facing these two squads,” remarked Head Coach Ashley Miles Greig. “This group continues to demonstrate that we are committed to taking the necessary measures to enhance, so we will remain focused, continue to put in the effort, and strive for improvement.”  

After their season opener in Baton Rouge against the reigning national champions, the Cyclones rallied with a commendable performance in front of their home supporters. Several impressive performances were noted this evening, including a tie of 9.900s between senior Josie Bergstrom-Te Slaa and sophomore Noelle Adams on vault. They concluded the tri-meet with a 195.100 score. The Cyclones had five event victors on the evening: Adams and Bergstrom-Te Slaa on vault, Lauren Thomas on beam, and Haylee Hardin and Adams on floor.  

Please be aware: the win against Iowa was not included in the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series. That competition will occur later this season in Iowa City. The Cyclones maintain the advantage in the series, 11-8, with tennis, gymnastics, and softball remaining.  

Vault (49.075)

The Cyclones initiated the evening on vault. Josie Bergstrom-Te Slaa and Noelle Adams both led with a score of 9.900 for the Cyclones. Noelle matched her career high on the event. This senior/sophomore duo also topped the team last week on vault against LSU. For the second consecutive week, vault was ISU’s top-scoring event.

Iowa State’s second event of the evening was the uneven bars. Sophomore Paige Wills distinguished herself on bars, scoring 9.775 for the Cyclones. Close behind was senior Bergstrom-Te Slaa, who achieved a score of 9.700. Bergstrom-Te Slaa also set a new career high with her score this evening.
