HOUSTON – The University of Houston Swimming & Diving squad is set to compete again after their winter respite on Saturday, as Big 12 Conference competitor Kansas arrives at the CRWC Natatorium for a dual meet. The initial event is set to commence at 11 a.m.

Houston excelled at the Phill Hansel Invitational in November. With a total of 1,941 points, the Cougars clinched victory by winning 10 events, achieving 11 NCAA Cuts, and setting four program records during the three-day event.
BIG 12 HONORS
Freshman Lottie Cullen has made a significant impact in her inaugural season. With two individual program records (100- and 200-yard backstrokes) and contributing to breaking the 400-yard medley relay record, she has earned recognition as the Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the Week three times this season, including after the Phill Hansel, where she improved her 100 back record and established new records in the 200 back and 400 medley relay.
Sophomore Michelle McLeod also received a conference weekly accolade post-Phill Hansel, having been named the Big 12 Diver of the Week after securing victories in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events and finishing third in the platform competition.

Houston competitors have amassed 24 NCAA Cuts across nine distinct events. Fifth-year athlete Hedda Grelz, McLeod, and freshman Caroline Roelen have achieved NCAA Zone Cuts in all three diving events, while sophomore Sydney Nethercutt, senior Henrietta Fangli, and Cullen have earned two NCAA B-Cuts each.

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION
Four Cougars represented their nations at the Short Course Worlds, with a couple also competing for their countries at the Gyor Open in December.
Cullen (Ireland), Fangli (Hungary), fifth-year Danielle Titus (Barbados), and Jimenez (Dominican Republic) participated in the Short Course Worlds. Fangli set a new Hungarian record in the 100-meter breaststroke, finishing with a time of 1:05.09, while Jimenez broke the Dominican Republic’s record in the 50-meter backstroke (28.44).
On the final day of the Short Course Worlds, Fangli achieved another Hungarian record, this time in the 400-meter medley relay (3:51.65), with Titus recording a Barbadian best in the 200-meter backstroke (2:12.86).
Later in December at the Gyor Open, El Gendy set a new Egyptian record in the 200-meter butterfly (2:13.60), while Fangli registered her third national record of the month, establishing a new Hungarian best in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:06.93).
