Despite our efforts, during our brief exploration of the expansive showrooms at CES 2025, we did not encounter any conventional gaming headset that truly distinguished itself as a standout winner.
Nevertheless, when it comes to unconventional headsets, there were the Rokid AR Spatial glasses, wearable displays that come in smart glasses form, ready to connect to gaming handheld devices, laptops, and smartphones to enhance your viewing experience with vast virtual screens.
Top gaming headset of CES 2025: Rokid AR Spatial glasses
The main characteristic that differentiates the Rokid AR Spatial glasses from the majority of VR headsets and gaming AR glasses is its integrated myopia and pupillary adjustments. Users who are nearsighted or have an inter-pupillary distance (IPD) that falls outside the standard VR headset presets can adjust the focus to suit their vision — no additional lenses needed.
Similar to prescription spectacles, this can not only greatly enhance the clarity of the virtual environment but also make viewing a screen directly in front of your eyes much more pleasant.
VR headsets such as the Meta Quest 3 offer only a handful of presets that do not suit everyone’s IPD. If you attempt to engage with a game using an IPD or focal length that does not align with your vision, you may experience eye strain — in extreme cases, you could begin to feel nauseated. AR glasses like Lenovo’s Legion Glasses 2 lack this feature altogether.
As for their specifications: Sony 0.68-inch Micro-OLED displays; a maximum brightness of 600 nits; 1200p resolution; and a refresh rate of 90Hz. The virtual screen extends up to 300 inches and can support a tri-screen configuration.
They weigh 75 grams, slightly heavier than some rivals, yet they still feel comfortable. The glasses operate on Rokid’s proprietary platform, which supports Android applications, and they can also be connected to your smartphone, laptop, or gaming handheld device.
