HAMPTON, Va. — After over a month without competition, the William & Mary swimming squads achieved three victories at the Tribe Quad Meet on Saturday morning at the Hampton Aquaplex, defeating Old Dominion with scores of 143-119 in the men’s category and 212-49 in the women’s category. Additionally, the Tribe women claimed a 205-90 win against Central Connecticut State, while they were defeated by East Carolina.

Overall, W&M had 11 champions across various events.

The 200 medley relay squad consisting of Julie Addison, Ellie Scherer, Lindsay Juhlin, and Caroline Burgeson kicked off the competition with a first-place time of 1:43.58. The men’s relay team — made up of Logan McDonald, Brock Rempe, Alex Valliere, and Aiden Bond — also emerged victorious with a time of 1:30.60.

In the distance events, Lauren Tucker delivered an excellent performance in the 1000 freestyle, finishing first with a time of 10:32.10. In the 200 freestyle, David Yune secured victory with a final time of 1:41.46.

In the 100 backstroke, Addison clinched the first position, clocking in at 56.96. The men’s pair of Micah Lowe (51.64) and Thomas Duncan (51.88) finished in second and third places, respectively.

Additional first-place finishers included Rempe (100 breaststroke) and Bond (50 and 100 freestyle). The men’s team demonstrated dominance in the 100 freestyle, occupying the top four positions in that event.

Duncan contributed another victory for the Tribe with his time of 1:52.63 in the 200 backstroke.

In the 100 butterfly, Juhlin led the field with a time of 56.15. Following closely was Sophia Heilen at 56.97. On the men’s side of the 100 fly, McDonald took first place with a time of 50.18.

UP NEXT

W&M is set to host Davidson at the Bee McLeod Recreation Center on Saturday, Jan. 18. The meet is scheduled to begin at noon.
