“Amazon Prime Video’s Top 10 Shaken Up: ‘Beast Games’ Loses Its Crown to a Fresh Contender”

In spite of considerable unfavorable coverage, a significant number of viewers have indeed been tuning into Beast Games, Mr. Beast’s extravagant reality series for Amazon Prime Video featuring 1,000 contestants vying for a $5 million grand prize, an enormous pot rarely seen within this competitive genre.

Recently, Beast Games has finally been unseated for the first time since its debut by a new Amazon Original Series, On Call, a police series that released all its episodes simultaneously in a binge-watching format just a few days ago, which is quite unusual for Amazon. Here’s the summary:

“On Call is an electrifying procedural that immerses us within the squad car and on the streets alongside Long Beach Police. Through training officer Traci Harmon and rookie Alex Diaz, the series explores how the intricacies of the job influence the human experience. Harmon will gain insight from a youth from the streets, while Diaz will realize that law enforcement isn’t simply black and white – it encompasses numerous shades of grey.”

The show currently holds a rather unimpressive 50% rating from critics. However, it has achieved significantly better scores from viewers, an 88%, although the number of reviews is still limited.

The cast does not feature many recognizable actors. The most notable “star” appears to be Lori Loughlin, infamous for both Full House and the college admission scandal. The lead role is portrayed by an actress from a previously prominent series, specifically Spencer Hastings from seven seasons of Pretty Little Liars. Perhaps she just doesn’t fall within my personal sphere of familiar names. I do also recognize Rich Ting from a few projects I have enjoyed, such as Warrior and Tulsa King.

Having said that, Beast Games isn’t finished yet. It is likely to regain its top position soon, especially considering that On Call has been released all at once, and there are still five more episodes of Beast Games remaining leading to the finale a month from now on February 13.

The contrast between critical and audience reception is astonishing. Critics have given it a dismal 13%, with some asserting it represents everything wrong with contemporary society. In stark contrast, it has an 80% rating from viewers, a disparity of this magnitude is not common. Despite a fair amount of recent online backlash, we exist in somewhat of a bubble; this is a person who boasts 343 million YouTube subscribers who garners at least 150 million views on each video he publishes. Therefore, it’s not surprising that this show is performing well and is highly rated. It will likely return to the top position shortly.
