WEST POINT, N.Y. — The Manhattan Men’s Track and Field team concluded a hectic day of competitions on Saturday during the West Point Open. The Jaspers competed intensely against athletes from Army, Le Moyne and numerous DII and DIII institutions from the northeast region.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Junior Jaxon Newton clinched first place in the Men’s 300M, clocking in at 8:42.44. Freshman Joshua Mingoia (9:14.62) and senior Jack Flanagan (9:22.60) also performed well, taking second and fourth places, respectively.

  • Junior Alex Bilello achieved first in the long jump with a top score of 6.73 feet, surpassing Samuel Chedester from East Stroudsburg. Sophomore Thomas Dubnov Raz from Manhattan claimed sixth place in the event with a leap of 6.55 feet.

  • To conclude the day, graduate student Paul Brennan took home first place in the Men’s Weight Throw with an impressive 18.61m throw on his second attempt. Additionally, Brennan achieved a personal best of 15.56m in the Men’s Shot Put, securing sixth place.

  • In the Men’s 800m, senior Brendan Lucey finished third with a time of 2:00.08, marking his personal best in this event. Sophomore Colby Micheels recorded a time of 2:05.15 to place fifth in the race.

  • For the Men’s 200m, junior Shane McCorry earned fourth place with a time of 23.25 seconds, while Dubnov Raz followed closely for fifth place, finishing at 23.37 seconds.

  • Freshman Rasmus Jaeger achieved a fourth-place result in the Men’s Mile, crossing the finish line at 4:27.66.
