Catamounts Stumble Against Bryant in Away Showdown

BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Vermont men’s basketball team faced a defeat in Smithfield, RI against Bryant. Shamir Bogues topped the Catamounts with a team-high of 17 points. Vermont’s record now stands at (2-1) in America East play.

HOW IT UNFOLDED

• Vermont surged to a quick 9-1 lead to open the game, aided by an Ileri Ayo-Faleye three-pointer and two baskets in the paint from Shamir Bogues and Sam Alamutu.
• Nick Fiorillo executed a baby hook from the post to extend the Catamounts’ advantage to 15-5 with 13 minutes left.
• Following a three-minute scoring drought, the Catamounts had three consecutive offensive possessions that resulted in (3) successful three-pointers. Shamir Bogues made a three off a pass from Seth Joba. Then, Ileri Ayo-Faleye converted a corner three. The next possession saw Shamir Bogues pull up for another three from the right wing. Vermont led 24-14 with 8 minutes remaining in the half.
• The Bulldogs fired back with a barrage of three-pointers. This ignited a comeback for Bryant, who surged back with a 17-2 run to seize a 33-26 lead with three minutes left.
• Vermont concluded the half behind 38-30.
• At the start of the second half, Bryant launched into a 19-2 run, leading 57-32 with 11 minutes to play.
• Following the eight-minute media timeout, the Catamounts embarked on a 7-0 run. UVM trailed 64-44 with four minutes remaining.
• Ileri Ayo-Faleye and Sean Blake each hit a three-pointer in the final two minutes.
