PHILADELPHIA – Lehigh men’s track and field participated in their second competition of the indoor season on Saturday, traveling south to the University of Pennsylvania for the Penn Select. The Mountain Hawks faced off against teams such as Saint Joseph’s, La Salle, Howard, Rutgers, Rider, Monmouth, Temple, and the hosting Penn.
JUMPS
Senior Skyler Mott along with rookie Nick Bressi were the two Mountain Hawks participating in the high jump on Saturday. Mott secured second place in the event with a leap of 2.05m, marking a season best for him. Bressi ended the event in 11th with a jump of 1.85m.

Four Mountain Hawks ran in the 1 mile event, led by rookie Ian Zalewski who placed 17th with a time of 4:19.20. Rookie Charlie Butler secured 24th at 4:23.33, with additional personal records achieved by junior Max Leffler (26th, 4:24.65) and junior Connor Malinger (38th, 4:34.92).
In the 3000m event, sophomore Ryan Baker and junior Henry Burd competed. Baker set a new personal record with a time of 8:14.60 to claim third place. Burd landed ninth, clocking in at 9:11.22.
In the 800m race, the Mountain Hawks were led by senior Ethan Hood, who finished 19th with a time of 1:58.13. Rookie Peter Priestner placed 21st at 1:59.88, just ahead of sophomore Aidan LaTourette, who finished 23rd at 1:59.96.
SPRINTS/HURDLES
In the 60m hurdles, sophomore Nathan Oliphant finished fifth in his heat to secure 11th overall in the preliminaries with a time of 8.41. Unfortunately, the Mountain Hawks did not advance to the finals.
Sophomore Eddie Moore participated in the 60m sprint for Lehigh, achieving seventh place in the prelims with a time of 7.03. In the finals, Moore once more clocked in at 7.03 to secure sixth place overall.
Leading Lehigh in the 200m was rookie Quinten Slaughter, who took sixth with a time of 22.46. Senior Patrez Thomas was just behind him in seventh at 22.51, while Oliphant finished 19th at 25.03.
Thomas was Lehigh’s top finisher in the 400m, completing the race in 10th at 50.66. Slaughter followed in 11th with 51.16, succeeded by sophomore Logan Haverkamp in 12th at 51.43. Rookie Austin Iburg placed 14th at 51.87, while rookie Griffin Niemann rounded out the finishes in 23rd at 56.90.
THROWS
Six Mountain Hawks participated in the weight throw, with senior Liam Lovering leading the pack in seventh place at 16.21m. Senior Ethan McHugh finished 10th with a throw of 13.67m, closely followed by rookie Joshua Porter in 11th at 13.65m. Junior Sharan Shankar placed 12th with a throw of 13.15m, while rookie Samuel Maloof was 14th at 12.98m, and rookie Adam Klinge finished 16th with a throw of 10.40m.
Lovering was again Lehigh’s top placer in the shot put, finishing fourth with a throw of 15.09m. The other notable finishes for Lehigh included Porter in eighth at 12.34m and rookie Aaron Humes in 10th at 11.68m.
The Mountain Hawks will revisit the University of Pennsylvania next weekend on Saturday, January 18 for the Quaker Invitational.
